As a guest for Evening Praise at the Motherhouse last evening I was very moved by the concluding prayer of this day. The prayer was focused, inclusive, and left no doubt that we are securely in the hands of God who has called us to this life — and surely invites others to join us. Along with Him, we will welcome you!

“We Give You Thanks and Praise” resounded in our Motherhouse chapel during Vespers this evening as we responded in chant to Sister Myra Jean who led the litany:

“For Mary, Mother of Jesus, who heard the call of God and answered…”

“For St.Clare who showed us how to look into the mirror of eternity…”

“For our Sisters who have gone before us living examples of faith and love…”

“For the members of this Community of Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity…”

“For the young women called to join us as we walk in the footprints of St. Francis…”

WE GIVE YOU THANKS AND PRAISE!!!

Sister Anne Marie, your welcoming comment is a Sisterly invitation to any woman in love with God and open to our Franciscan life. You might appreciate this reflection that appears on a prayer aid for the Sisters here at the Motherhouse just for today. It also speaks to the realism (and the humor) that is needed in living our life: “Conscious that we are living tabernacles, let’s take the positive approach and answer, ‘Yes, Lord,’ even when He asks what seems physically impossible to us. All things are possible with God. If you let Him, He can make a square peg like you fit into a round halo.” Mother Edna wrote this comment February 19, 1956.

I am happy to have seen this posted. Know that I join the Motherhouse community in prayer today for young women contemplating the call to our Community. I would tell any young woman, “Come and see, visit us and give Jesus a chance to captivate your heart”.
