Franciscan Sisters Welcome Pam Peasel

Today, August 28, 2008, the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity welcome Pam Peasel to the postulancy. She is the daughter of Sharon and Richard Peasel and has three brothers and one younger sister. From Grand Blanc, MI, Pam has been teaching French and History at Almont Commmunity Schools for two years and is a member of Holy Family Parish from the Diocese of Lansing.
Pam’s day began with a ferryboat ride across Lake Michigan. As a postulant with God’s help, the guidance of a directress and the support of family and many Franciscan Sisters,  she embarks on a journey to become a happy, holy, and healthy consecrated woman.
On a lighter side, Pam’s arrival on the shore of Manitowoc was far from a quiet one. The Harley Davidson anniversary in Milwaukee led others to form a line of welcome that invited bikers to ‘make a noise’ as they departed the ferry. Needless to say, this coincidence of arriving with this group of ‘noise makers’ will not be forgotten by Pam or her parents.
Lastly, another unforgetable fact is that today is the feast of St. Augustine. It is a wonderful day to begin anew and to take a significant step in following the Lord’s call. Augustine’s wisdom is comforting in this quote.
God loves each of us as if there were only one of us.
Messages of prayer and support for Pam are welcome.

Welcome to our Community and to our Motherhouse home, Pam. Today was a beautiful day and I imagine that your ferry ride was a lovely, smooth one. I pray that your transition into the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity will also be a smooth and peacefilled one.
May God bless you richly for accepting His invitation.
Welcome, Pam! I hope to meet you soon.
What a great day to begin another chapter of your life. I loved my postulancy and I hope you will find peace, joy and a loving group of women to assist you on your quest for holiness. May God bless you and keep you close!
Welcome Pam, to our wonderful Franciscan Community. How exciting it was to read of your coming. May these first days not be too overwhelming, but instead filled with a wonderful and peaceful sense of homecoming. Our prayers and blessings to you from Mississippi.
Dear Pam,
Welcome to Manitowoc and to the beginning of your journey with us! I met you this summer at Camp Franciscan. May our good and loving God bless you with peace and joy!
Welcome Pam, We in the U.P. say good luck in your new endeavor. Lower Michigan is ok but of course the Upper Peninsula is better
Welcome, Pam! I look forward to meeting you and having you be part of our religious community. We also welcome you to our learning community at Silver Lake College. Your surprising welcome on this end of the ferry trip may signal many neat surprises that God has in store for you!
Blessings!
A special welcome to you, Pam.
It is a joy to have you with us. May your first days of getting acquainted with us as a part of our family at Holy Family Convent be blessed and full of many happy moments. May St. Francis and St. Clare accompany you and inspire you in this step in your life. Bienvenida!
Welcome to our Community and to our home, Pam. I am so happy for you that God has enabled you to enter our Postulancy this fall. I had met you at Camp (Etiquette) and after hearing of your discerning of a call to our community I immediately began praying for you. Be assured that those prayers continue now for you, as I pray with gratitude to God for His generousity in you. Blessings and Peace!
Welcome Pam,
May God’s peace and joy be with you as you begin a new journey in your life. Young people bring joy and hope to us “older folks”. I am so glad you will be part of our Franciscan family.
Sister Verone
You are so very welcome, Pam. I hope we will be seeing you over here at Silver Lake College soon and often. While your arrival in Manitowoc must have been “spectacular,” I must admit I do not envy your experience. May your continued experience be one of peace and joy.
Dear Pam,
So you had a noisy welcome to Manitowoc! Well, maybe the heavens were just as noisy upon your decision to follow Christ in this special way. May the angels always watch over you and your loved ones.
Welcome and blessings to you Pam as you begin a beautiful new journey! Know of my prayer and support all the way from Hawaii. Know that God is with you!
With much sunshine and love,
Sr. Hannah
I had the pleasure of meeting Pam just hours after she arrived in Manitowoc. I am always struck by the enthusiasm and risk-taking of the young. Pam, you are no exception. Taking this step on your faith journey to join the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity demands a lot of faith and hope in a world that is often at best just neutral concerning Christianity. This is an exciting time for you and all our Sisters to help to enliven Church to be a beacon of HOPE. Welcome and God bless.
Welcome, Pam!
All of the Sisters here at Silver Lake College are delighted that you will be a part of our academic community this year. Be assured of our prayerful support as you begin the time of postulancy in our great Franciscan family.
It is wonderful to have Pam Peasel in our Postulancy! Though the trip on the ferry was a bit rough, we are sailing along quite smoothly since Pam’s arrival. We are so happy to have Pam with us,beginning her journey as a Postulant. Today, a rather hot, sunny day, Pam, Sr. Caritas, Sr. Chrisma and I worked in the perennial gardens, cutting back dead growth and weeding. It cheered us on when we saw Sr. Louise and Sr. Rosealani working in the garden they tend. This manual labor reminds me that God gives gardens growth and us, too! Even when it doen not rain, we water the earth to help flowers grow. Pam, may God bless you and all that you will experience during your transition here. We stand with you in love and hope and we thank God for you! God is doing the growing! Amen!
Pam,
Welcome to our community. Seeing you at prayer, meals and in the halls is a great joy. Know that you will be in our prayers as you begin another part of our life journey. We are blessed to have you with us.
Pam:
Welcome to our community of Franciscan Sisters - we are happy to have you in our presence. On behalf of the Community in Bapchule, Arizona we will be praying for you in your new endeavors.

Maybe Sister Pat will bring you out to see us. Know our prayers are with and for you. May God’s Spirit continue to direct, guide and strengthen you. In the peace of St. Francis, God Bless You Sister Sue Ann
A blessed WELCOME to you, PAMELA PEASEL! Am SOOO glad you decided to enter our wonderful Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. So, you are from Michigan and sounds like you had quite an entry with the Harley Davidson group on the ferry. My oldest sister’s name is Pamela & she lives in Kentucky, the bluegrass State. What is your middle name? Hers is Elaine. I’m from OHIO where it’s round at the beginning and end and HI in the middle. Ha! Do have a blessed year in the LORD! May your days be blessed and excitng as you begin a new stage of your faith journey. Know that you have the support of our prayers.
Welcome,Pam! I am so happy you are with us and look forward to meeting you here at SLC. I am always game for coffee and conversation or lunch when you are on campus. We’ll plan one or the other soon. I couldn’t help but think how pleased my college French teacher, our Sister Leon, is with your presence with us. I experienced her as always keenly interested in the younger community members, and you also share a background in French and coming from Michigan with her. May all-GOoD be yours…
Dear Pam,
You are probably overwhelmed with all the Sisters. You have met me since I am on the Postulant Team. We are all so happy God has called you to be with us and keep you in our prayers. I am in room 225 at the college so you can stop in to see me whenever you want to just say hello or if you need anything. May God bless your days ahead. Sister Rosangela
Pam:
As I said the other night,”It is good to have you here among us.” I’m sure the Lord has been looking for you at your new address and was glad when you finally arrived! Welcome to what we pray will become your home. Blessings be yours!
Pamela,
It looks like your new sisters have sent you many congratulations which are prettier then any I can think of and with so many powerful prayers for you, it does look like you will be well taken care of. The only thing I can add, and hopefully the Italian Saint Francis is not the jealous type, but from your Sainted Grandparents, I am passing you the Irish Blessing.
May you always have….
A sunbeam to warm you
Good luck to charm you,
And a sheltering angel
So nothing can harm you,
Laughter to cheer you,
Faithful friends near you,
And whenever you pray,
Heaven to hear you.
Love Dad.
PS. For the sister, who told me I wasn’t losing a daughter, but gaining a whole order of daughters… You don’t think all my new daughters will be expecting Christmas presents, do you?
Dear Pam.
I was happy to have breakfast with you yesterday and learn how eager you were to start your new life. I will keep you in prayer as you live each day. God bless you,
Sister Ann Joachim
Dear Pam:
Welcome to the postulancy and to our beautiful motherhouse. May Mary be your constant guide and her fiat your constant inspiration. You are remembered in our prayers and in our thoughts.
God bless and we will meet you in November!
Sister Renee Mirkes

Hi Pam,all I can say is WOW what at welcoming everyone has given you. Sounds like you are in loving hands, but then I knew that. Your Dad and I enjoyed our mini tour on Thursday and hope to get the Grand Tour in October. Good luck in your studies, I know you will do good. Please pass on my thanks to Sister Mary Ann and Sister Julie for their warm and wonderful welcome they gave us on Thursday. May the Lord bless and watch over you and all the sisters at Holy Family. Love, Mom
How blessed we are as Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity to have you with us, Pam!
Welcome! I enjoyed the fact that you arrived to a Harley Davis cheering squad. It reminds me that our God is full of surprises. Just when we think we are smoothly sailing along, He lets us know that He’s in control. I, myself, have experienced God’s humor many times, and I must admit his idea always works out better than mine. Enjoy this year of getting to know us and I look forward to getting to know you.
Sister Carla
Welcome Pam to Wisconsin and to our community… I work at Clarks Mills, the cradle of our community, just down the road from you. I will be happy to show you around the area. I teach all the religion and visit the homebound. There are many footprints of Sisters here and I ask the Lord to lead me in this ministry…
My love and prayers are with you…
I am so very proud of you. I know God has many Blessing for you. I pray you find peace and contentment. You and your family are, as always, in my prayers.. Love Shari
Pam,
I was happy to read messages from your mom, dad, uncle and others who know you outside of the community. I’m glad they can experience with you the joy we have at your coming and we can get to know your family/friends in a small way. I hope you encourage them to “chime in” on the blog frequently. It is great to have a “running conversation” with so many people.
Please let us know how things are going these next days.
Pam,
I am so happy for you! Brooke came home from school this week with the news you had followed your heart and were actively pursuing your vocation. You created quite the buzz in school and a positive one that! What a neat thing for young girls to see… that someone they loved and admired as a teacher followed her heart to serve God. What a role positive role model for our young daughters.
We will certainly miss you at Almont High School and I will be miss “subbing” in your classroom. Keep in touch and GOD BLESS!
Mary Corbin
okay - but please forgive the grammatical mistakes … I started off in one direction and obviously didn’t edit it very well…
Welcome to our Franciscan family, Pam. You are in our thoughts and prayers as you journey with us. May God bless you with wisdom, joy and peace.
Dear Pam,
Good luck to you as you begin your new life in Christ Jesus. Discerning God’s call for one’s life can be a difficult, sometimes unpopular and criticized decision, but, always, always the most fulfilling whether called to be single, married, a mother or yes a “sister”. Only God knows what doors are ready to be opened for you and where He will take you, but, rest assure if it is His will the journey will be exciting.
May God bless you and send all His angels and saints to surround you everyday and protect you, pray for you and minister to you and with you.
Grow with God, Love, Linda
Pam
I will just add my welcome to those of all the other Sisters. What a blessing to us to have you join us. We look forward to growing with you in the Lord.

I am so happy you are part of our Franciscan family. I, too, am from Michigan and a high school teacher. We need to share our love for Michigan and high school students.
My brother-in-law was the manager of the Grand Blanc Detroit and Northern credit union. I have been to your hometown.
My prayers support you in this time of transition to religious life.
God bless,
Sister Jan
Pam, I am so happy for you!
May God continue to shower his blessings on you as you embark on your journey with the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Welcome Pam!
I just met you at dinner 2 days ago. You were rushing as it was a full scheduled day of classes and teaching for you. That’s the beginning of “…called to serve”. Sorry I hit you with so many questions inbetween swallows. May your days and moments of “called to be” be blessed with our Lords’ love, joy, and whispering voice.
Gentle Blessings,
Sister Marialee

Aloha Pam,
Greetings from Kekaha, Hawaii. It is wonderful to have you with us! My name is Sr. Mary Ann Feminella and I am teaching fourth grade here at St. Theresa. The local people are so loving and friendly. They just love the sisters. The children are children - loving, accepting, fun and can be challenging, at times. That’s to be expected.
Well, enjoy your days. Know that you are kept in prayer. Stay close to Jesus, all He wants is your Love!
Bye for now.
Sr. Mary Ann
How wonderful to see the many comments! Thank you all for your support for Pam and for your continued prayers for her and all of us Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. We look forward to Pam’s parents’ Motherhouse visit this fall.
