Today marks the beginning of Rosh Hashana – the Jewish new year, which begins at sunset. To understand the Gospel is to learn more about the Jewish heritage. This, too, is a Franciscan approach to the scriptures.

One of my Sisters suggested that I listen to a great podcast by Krista Tippet on the "Days of Awe" on speakingoffaith.org. A young female rabbi shares on this observance that focuses on the fragility of life and the transformation of the world through social engagement. The music is also spiritually uplifting!
