Franciscan Novices Named in Rite of Initiation into Religious Life

by Sister Julie Ann on June 12, 2011

On Pentecost Sunday, June 12, 2011, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity celebrated the Rite of Initiation into Religious Life.  Community Director, Sister Louise Hembrecht, conferred Religious Names on Sister Regina Rose (Karol Rose Pearson) and Sister Leslie (Leslie Hammond Gonia) at our Motherhouse in Manitowoc, WI.

The Holy Spirit’s fire of love and courage is very alive in our two new Franciscan Novices. Here’s a little more information about them:

As a Franciscan Community, we remember our birthdays and our feastdays every year first by praying for each other and also having simple celebrations. Those received into the Novitiate on any given year also choose a title to model their lives upon and a day to remember and celebrate their call to Religious Life. Sister Leslie and Sister Regina Rose chose ‘Lovers of the Word Incarnate’ as their title and Christmas as their day of reflecting on their call to the consecrated life.

As Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, we have much to celebrate! We invite you to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit within you and consider a discernment retreat with us!

I am so thankful I was able to attend this beautiful, simple ceremony receiving these two young women into our community. Now we step back and prayerfully support their process of Novitiate… leaning, growing, and living each day as a religious.

  • Lindsey

It is a joy to be able to see pictures from reception today. Know that you have been in my prayers all day. I am so excited for the two of you. Praise God for your response to Him. May your time as novices be full of grace and blessings. I am sure that all of Heaven is rejoicing with you today.

Lindsey, know that you, too, are in our prayers. The Spirit works in each of us in mysterious ways, ways we don't always understand. But I do know that, for some reason that will only be known in your heart and soul, God brought you here…for whatever His purpose in having you walk with us for the past year. As you continue to grow in openness to His will and plan in your life, His Spirit will fill you, strengthen you, guide you, untilyou are strong enough and ready for the next step in this profound journey He has set you on. On this special Pentecost Day, may His Spirit of Love for you fill your heart….and guide you on this path He has placed before you. With you..Sr. Caritas.
